The forum gathered numerous industry pioneers, investors, and other market participants to discuss the multifaceted aspects of global sustainable development, strengthen alignments, and provide effective solutions to build a more sustainable future in Asia.
Ms. Elle Hu delivered an insights unveiled entitled "Unravelling the growth and potential of ESG bonds in Hong Kong and China market", conducting a trend and outlook analysis of the ESG bond market, and then analyzing the opportunities and challenges for issuance and investment. She also shared how to incorporate ESG factors in credit ratings from the perspective of rating agency.
Due to the divergence of monetary policies between the U.S. Federal Reserve and the PBoC, onshore local currency financing has been a more appealing funding option to issuers. Nevertheless, Chinese issuers was still the second-largest supplier of Asian international bond issuance. As for the green and sustainable bonds, Chinese issuers have taken a leading position in issuing international sustainable bonds. ESG bonds in China and Hong Kong markets will see a momentum in issuance and investment in the coming years.
